“What should I ask Grandma? Dad? Where do I even start?”

We’ve all been there. So I put together a little cheat-sheet: 30 simple prompts that make real conversations happen. Pick a few, press record, let the story wander. No scripts, no pressure—just voices, laughter, and the little details we never want to lose. (PDF below.)

What’s inside:

  • 30 prompts grouped by theme: Childhood & Home, School & Growing Up, Work & Craft, Love & Family, Places & Journeys, Culture & Traditions, Challenges & Resilience, Little Things, Big Meaning, Wisdom & Hopes, and a few Wildcards.
  • A quick recording checklist (quiet spot, phone on airplane mode, mic close, back up files).

How to use it:

  1. Choose 5–8 prompts that feel right.
  2. Find a quiet corner and hit record (audio or video—whatever’s easiest).
  3. Ask gentle follow-ups: “What happened next?”, “How did that feel?”, “What did you learn?”
  4. Don’t chase perfect—authentic beats polished every time.

Good for: birthdays, anniversaries, immigration stories, new babies, or just a Sunday afternoon when everyone’s together.

If you try it, tell me how it went—or DM me if you want tips on turning a quick chat into a private mini-podcast or short film for your family. Now go make someone’s day: ask them a question and listen. 💛
